Introduction
Create and share engaging video content directly from your Panopto Brightspace Folder located in the Tools link. Whether you're creating lectures, tutorials, or updates, this process ensures your videos are easily accessible to students and seamlessly integrated into your course. In this article, we will walk you through the steps to record a new session, from accessing the course folder to using Panopto's recording tools.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Record A New Session
- In your Brightspace course, go to the navigation bar and click on Tools to access the drop-down menu.
- Then click on Panopto to access your course folder.
- This may take a few minutes as first-time access begins the process of populating the course and assignment folders in Panopto.

- After the folder has populated, click on the orange +Create button on the top right of the screen and select from the menu where you would like to record your session:
- Panopto for Windows - record in application. (You can download Panopto through this option if you do not have the application.)
- If you have a MacBook, there will be a blue link titled Click here for other download options to download the Mac application for Panopto.
- Panopto Capture - record in browser. (recommended to record in Google Chrome for Firefox.)
- Upload Media - you also have the option to record from a third-party application or your device and upload the video to make edits.

- After the session is recorded, it is recommended to change the title, description, and add captions for accessibility.
Embed Your Session

In the content area of your course, navigate to the folder where you want your lecture video to be included in.
- Next, navigate to the right side and click on Create New to add a blank HTML Page.

- In the page area, navigate to your toolbar and click on the Insert Stuff Icon (an icon with a triangle, circle, two lines, and square).

- Once you click on the icon, select the Panopto Video Embed 1.3.

- This will open your course's Panopto folder with all the sessions you have recorded.
- You also have the option to upload a video or record this way as well!

- Next, you will be able to select your video and click on Insert and Insert again;, to fully embed the video onto the page.
- Once you have adjusted any settings, Save and Close.

- The video should now be viewable in the Content area for students.
