Person of Interest (POI) Account Request and Renewal

A Person of Interest (POI) is a non-employee/non-student who is granted limited UTRGV system access for a specific business purpose (e.g., contractors, researchers, or affiliates).

To request a Person of Interest (Sponsored) account, complete the request through the HR Person of Interest webpage. Be sure to review the full process and timeline before submitting your request.

 

After HR Processing Is Complete

Once HR has finalized the request:

  • The Identity Management system automatically creates the sponsored account.
  • The sponsored user receives an account activation email from accounts@utrgv.edu at the alternate email address provided in the HR Biographical Information Form.
  • The sponsored user must complete the account activation process to access email and standard applications.

Note: If additional access is required beyond the default account, submit a separate Access Request after the account has been created.

 

Renew or Extend an Existing Sponsored Account

To renew or extend access for an existing sponsored account:

  • The head of the sponsoring department (Dean, Associate VP, or higher) must send an email to hr@utrgv.edu.
  • The request must include:
    • Sponsored account email address
    • Updated end date for access

Once HR updates the special assignment end date, access will resume. Changes may take up to 1–2 business days to process.
