Connecting Second Monitor (DisplayPort Multistreaming) – Laptops

 

  1. Requirements:
    1. Use of USB Type-C as primary video input source.
    2. Secondary Monitor with a DisplayPort connection.
    3. DisplayPort Cable (usually included with regular monitor)

 

  1. Steps:
    1. Identify Primary monitor (Given with LCR, an HP Conference Monitor).
    2. Connect a cable between the USB Type-C port on the computer and the USB Type-C with DisplayPort upstream connector on the monitor.
    3. Add a second monitor by connecting a cable between the DisplayPort out port on the primary monitor and the DisplayPort in port on a secondary monitor.

Port Connection Steps: 

1. Connect the USB Type-C Cable to the monitor.

2. Connect DisplayPort cable on the DP-Out port located in the Primary monitor and the other end to the DP Port on the secondary monitor.

3. Connect the Network cable on the network port. If desired, you can connect an external keyboard and mouse to the additional USB ports next to the network port.

**You will not need to connect the power adapter since the monitor will provide power over USB Type-C port.**

 

  1. Configuring an external monitor
    1. Type Control Panel in the taskbar search box, and then select Control Panel. Select Appearance and Personalization.
    2. To set the external monitor as the primary monitor, select Second screen only.
      1.  To set the external monitor as an extension of the primary monitor, select Extend.
      2. To set the external monitor as a copy of the primary monitor, select Duplicate.
