How to Submit a Video Assignment in Brightspace

Introduction:

Submitting a video assignment through Panopto in Brightspace is simple and efficient. Learn how to ensure your video is properly uploaded and linked for a seamless submission.

In this article, we’ll cover all the steps to help you successfully complete your video assignment.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. 1. Access your course in Brightspace.
  2. 2. Click on the Activities button at the top to collapse the view and then select Assignments.
  3. In Brightspace, click on "activities" and select "Assignments"
  4. 3. Select the Assignment that requires a Panopto Student Video Submission.
  5. Choose an assignment that needs a Panopto submission.
  6. 4. Once on the submission page, scroll down and click the “Insert Stuff” icon from within the text editor.
  7. Once on the submission page, scroll down and click the “insert stuff” icon from within the text editor.
  8. 5. On the pop-up window that appears, select Panopto Student Video Submission.
  9. On the pop-up window that appears, select Panopto Student Submission.
  10. 6. A window showing the embedded video selector will appear once selected. You have three options for embedding Panopto content.

  11. Choose from Capture Screen, Upload a video, or Record a video

  12. 7. Once you select the “Launch Capture” button, you’ll have the Panopto Capture options to record in your browser. Record your submission, ensure the upload completes, then navigate back to your Brightspace assignment window and select Insert.
  13. Once you select the “Launch Capture” button, you’ll be met with the Panopto Capture options to record in your browser. Record your submission, ensure the upload completes, then navigate back to your Brightspace assignment window and select Insert.
  14. 8. After selecting insert, you’ll be met with the following screen in which you’ll need to select “insert” again.
  15. Select insert when finished recording
  16. 9. Lastly, you’ll be taken back to the submission page screen, where you’ll click the submit button to finalize your submission.
  17. Once you have finished recording, select "Submit" to turn in

  • • Can I upload a video instead of recording?
    • Of course! You can record through a third party (Zoom/Desktop/OBS) application and upload the video as an mp4 file.
  • • What is from the Choose option?
    • These are videos that were recorded previously in your personal folder of Panopto. If you recorded before the due date or have a video from the previous time recording, it will show up there.
