About Brightspace Grades

This article pertains to users participating in the Brightspace Pilot program during the Spring 2025 semester.

Introduction:

"About Grades" covers how instructors can set up grade items, apply grading schemes, and organize grades into categories. It also explains how grades are linked to assignments, quizzes, and other course activities and how they are calculated and displayed to students.

Grades

  1. 1. Review and manage learner grades, import/export your grade book in Excel or CSV format, grade submissions, and manually adjust or override grades.
  2. 2. Create new grade categories and grade items.
  3. 3. View, create, and edit grading schemes that have been shared from a higher level in your organization.
  4. 4. A seven-step setup wizard to help guide you to set up your initial grade book configuration
  5. 5. Configure your personal display options, org unit (course) display options, and calculation options.
