Introduction:
Create sections in your Class Notebook Collaboration Space to facilitate student group work. Then, choose which students can view and edit within that section. Grant read-only permissions to the whole class if you’d like everyone to see a section but not edit it.
This step-by-step guide helps instructors add a Collaboration Space to their Brightspace course, enabling students to brainstorm, share ideas, and work together in real time. Follow these simple steps to create an interactive and engaging learning environment!
Step-by-Step Instructions:
In OneNote Class Notebook, instructors can set up collaborative activities, where students can add documents with the whole class or within small groups.
- 1. Click on the OneNote Class Notebook link in your Brightspace course.
- 2. Select Sign in to OneNote.

- 3. Select Manage Notebooks in the Class Notebook Wizard.

- 4. Click Open Notebook .

- 5. From the course homepage in the Class Notebook, select Collaboration Space [a].
- 6. Select the tab under the heading [b].

- 7. Select Add Page.

- 8. On the blank page that opens, enter a name for the page above the date. This will be the title that students see.
- 9. Enter the content of the page. Questions can be typed directly onto the page, copied and pasted from an outside document, or inserted. Images can also be inserted.

- 10. When finished, select Class Notebook from the top navigation bar.
- 11. A dropdown menu will appear:
- Select Distribute Page to distribute the page to all students.
- Select Individual Distribution to distribute the page to select student(s).
- Select Group Distribution to distribute page to separate groups.

Note: To create groups, after selecting Group Distribution, select + New Group in the window that opens. Then, choose the students for the group using the checkboxes and select Save.
- 12. From the sidebar that appears, select the section of the notebook to which the page should be distributed.
- 13. Select Distribute.
