Introduction:
In this article, learn how to manually copy a Panopto course folder for a Brightspace D2L course.
When you manually copy a course in Panopto, reference copies of the original course's videos will be added to the new Panopto course folder. Reference copies can have settings that are independent of the original video and will be cleared of any user-contributed data from previous courses, such as notes, discussions, quiz results, and viewing statistics. Any edits made to the original video will be applied to any reference copies. Reference copies can be turned into full copies if edits are made to them in later versions.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- 1. Access your new course offering.
- 2. Access Panopto from the Tools course menu.
- 3. From the Panopto interface, click on the 3 dots and select the Settings icon, which looks like a cog wheel, in the upper right-hand corner.
- 4. On the Overview tab of the folder's settings, scroll down to Course Video Copy and select Choose source folder.
- 5. On the Previous course folder dropdown that appears, locate and select the source course folder that you want to be copied into this new course folder. Please note: Users will need Creator access to the original course folder for it to appear as an option on the Previous course folder dropdown menu.
- 6. Select Begin folder copy to start the copying process.
- 7. The selected folder will begin to copy into the new Panopto course folder.
Please note: The amount of time it will take for the course copy to complete depends on the amount of content in the original folder. Generally, most course copy operations should be completed within 24 hours. If your course copy takes longer than 24 hours to complete, please contact the COLTT Help Desk.
