How to Integrate Knewton Alta into Brightspace

Introduction:

This article covers how to integrate Knewton Alta into your Brightspace course.

Step-by-step Instructions:

  1. 1. Log in to knewton.com/teach and navigate to your course. Ensure that all your coursework has been added to your course. We recommend completing your course outline before importing to the LMS.
  2. 2. Click on the Settings button.

  4. 3. Scroll down to the LMS configuration area, and click on the Download Common Cartridge button.
  5. Download Cartridge
  6. 4. Next, go to your Brightspace course.
  7. 5. Click on Course Admin from the course navbar and select Import/Export/Copy Components.
  8. Import components
  9. 6. Select Import Components, choose from a course package, and click the Start button.

  11. 7. Then upload the Common Cartridge file you downloaded from Knewton Alta and click Import All Components.

  13. 8. On the “Import Course Package” page, click View Content.

  15. 9. In D2L, find the section initialization link at the top of the course content. This will be named whatever your Alta course is called.
  16. 10. When you click on the link, you will have the option to Create your section and then choose Launch this in a new tab.
  18. 11. Now, your Alta course is linked.
  19. 12. To finish, hide the section creation link from the Knewton Coursework files. You may need to do this for the Review Center link as well if you are not using tests in Alta.
