Upgrade Your UTRGV Computer to Windows 10

For UTRGV computers running Windows 7 or Windows 8:

Initiate the upgrade when the computer is not in use for a few hours (i.e., at the end of the day).

1. Search for and launch the Software Center application.
2. Under the Operating Systems tab, select Upgrade Win 7, 8, 8.1 to Win 10 1709.
3. Click install.
4. Click Next, if prompted to download updates for the installation.
5. Accept the license agreement.
6. Review each item and Confirm to continue the upgrade.
   • NOTE: This screen lists items not compatible with Windows 10. If you have any questions about the software/hardware listed, please contact the vendor for assistance.
7. Click install to begin the upgrade. 
   • NOTE: This may take a while depending on the year of the computer.
8. Click Next once the upgrade is complete.
9. Accept the license agreement.
10. Accept the default privacy settings.
11. Click Not now when asked to use Cortana. 
12. Click Next.
13. Log in using your UTRGV username and password when prompted.
    • NOTE: The computer will begin installing updates and may be slow. Once the upgrade is complete, default apps may be different. To make changes to the default apps, go to Windows Central.
