Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series – Phone Overview

Button and Indicator Descriptions
The numbered labels in the image correspond to the following components:
- Incoming Call or Voicemail Indicator
Displays a visual alert when there is an incoming call or a new voicemail message.
- Camera (Cisco IP Phone 8845 and 8865 models only)
Used for video calls on supported phone models.
- Feature and Session Buttons
Located on the sides of the screen and used to access phone features and manage active, incoming, or held calls.
- Softkeys
Context‑sensitive buttons displayed along the bottom of the screen. Available options change based on the current task.
- Back, Navigation Cluster, and Release
Used to navigate menus, move through options, return to previous screens, or end calls.
- Hold, Transfer, and Conference Buttons
Used to place calls on hold, transfer calls to another number, or add additional participants to a call.
- Headset, Speakerphone, and Mute Buttons
Controls audio output and microphone settings during calls.
- Voicemail, Applications, and Directory Buttons
Provides access to voicemail messages, phone applications and settings, and the directory.
- Volume Controls
Adjusts the volume for the ringer, handset, headset, or speakerphone.
Making and Answering Calls
Make a Call (Handset)
- Enter the phone number using the keypad.
- Pick up the handset.
Answer a Call
- Press the flashing line button, or
- Pick up the handset.
Make a Call Using Speakerphone
- Enter the phone number.
- Press Speakerphone.
Make a Call Using a Headset
- Connect a headset to the phone.
- Enter the phone number.
- Press Headset.
Call Controls
Place a Call on Hold
- During an active call, press Hold.
- To resume the call, press Hold again or select the call from the screen.
Mute or Unmute a Call
- Press Mute to turn off your microphone.
- Press Mute again to turn the microphone back on.
Adjust Call Volume
- While on a call, press the Volume buttons to adjust the audio level for the handset, headset, or speakerphone.
Transferring and Conferencing Calls
Transfer a Call
- While on an active call, press Transfer.
- Enter the destination phone number.
- Press Transfer again to complete the transfer.
Add Another Person to a Call (Conference)
- While on an active call, press Conference.
- Select an existing held call or dial a new number.
- Press Conference again to connect all participants.
Recent Calls
View Call History
- Press Applications.
- Select Recents.
- Choose a line to view incoming, outgoing, or missed calls.
Voicemail
Check Voicemail
- Press Messages and follow the voice prompts.
- If multiple lines are configured, select the desired line before accessing voicemail.
Call Forwarding
Forward All Calls
- Select the line you want to forward.
- Press Forward All.
- Enter the forwarding number or select Voicemail.
- To turn off call forwarding, press Forward Off.
Phone Settings
Adjust Ringtone Volume
- When the phone is idle, press the Volume buttons to increase or decrease the ringer volume.
Change the Ringtone
- Press Applications.
- Select Settings > Ringtone.
- Choose a line.
- Scroll through the available ringtones and select Play to preview.
- Select Set and Apply to save the change.
Adjust Screen Brightness
- Press Applications.
- Select Settings > Brightness.
- Use the navigation controls to adjust brightness.
- Select Save.
Change Font Size
- Press Applications.
- Select Settings > Font Size.
- Choose the desired font size.
- Select Save.
Video (Select Models Only)
Some Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series models include a built‑in camera for video calls.
Start or Stop Video
- Adjust the camera shutter to enable or disable video during a call.
Bluetooth (Select Models Only)
Pair a Mobile Device
- Enable Bluetooth and discoverable mode on your mobile device.
- On the phone, press Applications.
- Select Bluetooth > Add Bluetooth.
- Choose your mobile device from the available list.
- Confirm the pairing request on both devices.
