In most UTRGV offices, computers connect to the network through the back of a Cisco phone. Cisco phones have a pass-through port that splits a single network connection into two (for the phone and computer).
Connecting a Cisco Phone to The Network
You will need two network cables and access to the network port on the wall.
- Connect the 1st network cable from WALL to PHONE IN (Network Icon)
- Connect the 2nd network cable from PHONE OUT to COMPUTER (Computer Icon)
Reset Phone or Computer Network Connection
There may be occasions such as after a power failure where you need to reset the network connection for your phone or computer. To do so, disconnect and firmly reconnect each end of the network cable going from the back of the phone to the network port on the wall. After the phone reboots, the network connection to the phone and computer should be established.
