To publish quizzes or exams directly from Respondus Test Generator into your Brightspace course, you’ll first need to set up a connection to your Brightspace server.

This step-by-step guide will walk you through the one-time process of configuring the server settings in Respondus, so you can upload assessments quickly and securely.


Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. 1. When you have an exam needing to be published to a Brightspace server, you can click on the Preview + Publish tab to begin the setup process.
  2. 2. Under the tab, select Publish and Publish Wizard.
    • Type of Publish: If publishing directly to a single course, choose Publish to single course. For multiple courses, select Batch Publish to multiple courses.
    • Choose an existing server. or "add new server" to add settings information for a new server: Click on the drop-down menu and choose - add new server

  4. 3. On the Add New Server Settings, select Yes, check for preconfigured server settings.
    • Enter a name to describe this Brightspace server (e.g., "My Brightspace Courses"): We recommend naming in terms of the username associated or "Brightspace Server"
    • Enter your login information for this Brightspace server. This should not allow you to enter any information. If you are able to type in the boxes, please update Respondus to the latest version.
      • To save credentials, you can check the Save my Username and Password on this computer box. (recommended)
    • Respondus can run a connection test using the above settings to make sure it can communicate with your online course: Select Run connection test.

  6. 4. After clicking on Run connection test, a new pop-up will appear for an Authentication Module Download (for first-time use), click on Ok, and wait for the download to be completed.

    • After signing in, click OkNext, and finally Finish.

  • Can’t find your Brightspace server in the list?
    • Make sure you're using the latest version of Respondus. If the server isn’t listed, you may need to manually add the Brightspace server settings (ASK COLTT for the correct URL and login method).
  • Login not working in Respondus?
    • Double-check that you’re using the same login credentials you use for Brightspace. Some institutions require multi-factor authentication (MFA), which may not work directly through Respondus. MFA support can be provided by Information Technology.
  • Error when publishing to Brightspace?
    • Ensure the quiz is fully saved in Respondus and that your internet connection is stable. Try re-authenticating or restarting the application.
  • Missing course or quiz not uploading?
