Important – Check Special Access Settings
If you delete or reopen a quiz attempt, make sure to review the quiz’s Special Access settings.

When deleting an attempt: If the quiz has a set availability window or limited number of attempts, the student may need special access granted so they can retake it.
When reopening an attempt: Verify that the quiz is still available to the student for the extended time. If the availability dates have passed, you’ll need to adjust them in Special Access.
Neglecting to update these settings may prevent the student from starting or continuing their quiz.

Resetting a Student’s Quiz Attempt

1. In your course navbar, click Activities, then select Quizzes.
2. Find the quiz in question and click the dropdown arrow next to its title.
- Select Grade from the menu.
3. Check the box next to the student’s attempt you wish to remove (under the User's Tab).
- Click the trash can icon at the top of the table.
4. In the pop-up confirmation window, click Yes to permanently delete the attempt.

Reopening a Student’s Quiz Attempt

1. From the quiz’s dropdown menu, click Grade.
2. Find the student’s attempt and click Reopen.
TIP: If you come across an attempt like the image below, please note that a quiz attempt can only be reopened if it is in a submitted state and is a learner's most recent attempt.
3. You can add extra time for the reopened attempt before saving (if enforced).
- The quiz will reset to an "In Progress" state for the student.

- Ensure the quiz settings allow multiple attempts or special access adjustments.

- Deleted attempts cannot be restored. Instead, grant special access so the student can retake the quiz.
