Introduction:
Perusall is a collaborative reading platform integrated into Brightspace that helps you engage with course readings more actively. It allows you to annotate texts, ask questions, and interact with classmates—all within your course shell.
Accessing Perusall in Brightspace:
- 1. Log into Brightspace and navigate to your course.
- 2. Look for a module or link titled something like “Perusall Readings”, “Collaborative Reading Assignments”, or simply “Perusall”.
- 3. Click the link. This will open Perusall in a new tab or window, and automatically log you in using your Brightspace credentials.
Note: If you don’t see a Perusall link, check with your instructor or course announcements.
Completing a Reading Assignment:
- 1. Open the assigned reading from the Perusall dashboard.
- 2. As you read, highlight text and add comments or questions.
- 3. You can also reply to classmates’ annotations to build discussion.
- 4. Perusall tracks your engagement and may assign a score based on:
- Thoughtfulness of annotations
- Interaction with peers
- Completion of the reading
Tip: Aim for quality over quantity. Thoughtful comments and questions help you and your classmates learn better.
Due Dates & Notifications:
- • Perusall assignments often have specific due dates.
- • You may receive reminders via Brightspace or email.
- • Late submissions may be accepted, but check your instructor’s policy.
