Introduction:
Question pools allow you to create a section of questions in the Question Library and have Brightspace randomly select a set number of those questions for each student.
For example, you could have a section of 50 questions, but only 25 will be randomly pulled into the quiz for each student.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
TIP: Keep your question pools balanced—ensure all questions in a pool have similar difficulty and relevance so randomization is fair for all students.

- And if you have sections/pools from previous quizzes, click Import and then Browse Existing Questions.

- 5. Once all questions are added or imported, click Done Editing Questions.
- Repeat these steps for additional sections if needed.

Troubleshooting Tips:
- • Questions are not appearing in the quiz
- Ensure you select the correct section from the Question Library when creating the pool.
- Verify that the section contains active questions and that none are set to “inactive” status.
- • Wrong number of questions is being pulled
- Check the “Number of Questions to Select” setting in your question pool.
- Confirm that your section contains at least as many questions as the number you entered to be pulled.
- • Randomization seems uneven
- Review the difficulty and type of questions in your section. Uneven randomization often happens when the pool contains a wide range of difficulty or question formats. Group similar questions into separate sections for better control.
- • Imported questions are missing images or formatting
- Questions created directly in the quiz may lose formatting when imported to the Question Library. Re-upload any media files or fix formatting directly within the Question Library after importing.
- • Keep your question pools balanced and ensure all questions in a pool have similar difficulty and relevance so randomization is fair for all students.

FAQ Section:
- • Q: Can I have more than one question pool in a single quiz?
- A: Yes. You can add multiple pools to a quiz, each pulling from different sections or topics.
- • Q: What happens if I edit a question in the Question Library after students have started the quiz?
- A: Changes will apply only to future quiz attempts. Existing attempts will not be updated retroactively.
- • Q: Can I reuse the same question pool in another course?
- A: Yes. You can copy the section from the Question Library to another course and recreate the pool there.
- • Q: Do question pools work with all question types?
- A: Most standard question types work in pools (e.g., multiple choice, true/false, short answer). However, avoid mixing question types that have different grading rules unless intentional.
- • Q: Can I assign different point values to questions within a pool?
- A: No. All questions in a single pool must have the same point value. If you need different point values, create separate pools.
