Zoom – Training and Account Overview

Zoom is a video conferencing platform used for hosting virtual meetings, classes, and collaboration sessions at UTRGV.

Training Resources

For guidance on using Zoom features such as scheduling meetings, screen sharing, and breakout rooms, visit the following resources:

Note: The IT Service Desk provides basic support for access and installation. For training on how to use Zoom features, please refer to the resources above.

Meeting Capacity

Zoom meeting capacity depends on the account type:

• Basic (standard) account: Up to 100 participants per meeting
• Licensed account (Business): Up to 300 participants per meeting

All currently enrolled UTRGV students and currently employed faculty and staff already have access to a standard UTRGV Zoom account. To request a licensed Zoom account, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Note: Requests are limited to current UTRGV employees and students and must include a valid business or academic reason for the upgrade.

Large Events

For large-scale events with a high number of attendees, consider using a broadcast solution such as Microsoft Teams Live Events
