How to Request a Learner Account


Introduction:

This article explains how to request a Learner (Student) account in Brightspace. Faculty members at UTRGV can request a Learner account in Brightspace to preview their courses from a true student perspective.

A Learner account in Brightspace provides faculty with a genuine student preview, making it ideal for testing assignments, quizzes, and reviewing the overall course layout.


Instructions to request a Learner account:

  1. 1. Submit a General Support Case.
  2. 2.  Make sure you provide the courses you want to access as a student view.
  3. 3.  Upon completion of the request, our COLTT Help Desk will provide access to the faculty member.
  4. 4. User credentials will be distributed to the faculty member.
  5. 5. At this point, faculty may access their courses as a Learner/Student view.

Why Request a Learner Account?

  • Experience the course exactly as students do.
  • Verify navigation, content visibility, and assessment settings.
  • Ensure a smooth learning experience for your students.

Important Notes:

  • Requests are limited to active UTRGV faculty only.
  • Allow up to 2 business days for processing.
  • Use the Learner account only for preview and testing purposes.
