Enroll a New Phone or Other Mobile Device in Duo Mobile (Replacement Phone with Same Phone Number)

Before You Begin, install the Duo Mobile App on your new device from your device's app store.

To enroll a new device to replace one that was previously activated on Duo Mobile with the same phone number*, follow these steps: 

  1. Log in to UTRGV.edu/duo
    Your device must be connected to the 
    campus network, (on-campus, VPN, or DirectAccess). 
    If your device is not connected to the campus network, you will be directed to the UTRGV home page.
  2. Click Add a new device.  (on the left side).
  3. Click Call Me
  4. Answer the phone call from Duo Mobile.
  5. Press any key to connect. 
  6. Be sure the correct device type is selected and click Continue.
  7. Enter your phone number including the area code.
  8. Select the checkbox, "You entered (###) ###-####. This number already exists, replace it?"
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Be sure the correct device type is selected and click Continue.
  11. Click I have Duo Mobile installed.
  12. Open your Duo Mobile App and tap the "+" sign at the top right.
  13. Scan the code displayed on the screen to add your UTRGV account to the Duo Mobile App.

Two-factor authentication using a push notification from the DUO Mobile app is the preferred authentication method. 

*PLEASE NOTE: If your new device DOES NOT have the same phone number, call the IT Service Desk at 956-665-2020 for assistance.
