	- Changes to your last name must first be updated by the Registrar's office in Banner/ASSIST (for students) or by Human Resources in PeopleSoft (for employees). 
 
	- For your account:
 
	- First name:  Can be changed to a name you are more commonly addressed by (not an initial) by submitting a Service Request.  
 
	- Last name:  Once your last name has been officially updated (step 1 above), submit a Service Request to have IT change your email address/name on your account. 
 
	- Changes to your account will sync to Office 365 apps.  
 
NOTE:  Email address changes will result in a gap in access to UTRGV resources.  After the change is made, Brightspace and other resources could be inaccessible for 1-3 business days.  It is recommended that current students wait until a semester break to request email address changes.
