The Windows 11 Upgrade Exemption Request form is designed for users who seek an exemption from the upgrade. This form helps us understand your needs and the reasons for requesting an exemption, ensuring that all devices meet the necessary requirements for optimal performance and security.

Please note that submitting this request does not guarantee an exemption. Each request will be carefully reviewed, and you will be notified of the decision.

Steps to Request

  1. Select the blue Request Service button on this page.
  2. Email of Requestor: Enter the email address of the person submitting the request.
  3. Contact #: Include a phone number where the requestor can be reached.
  4. Asset Manager / Custodian: Provide the email of the asset manager or custodian.
  5. Asset Tag Number: List the asset tag(s) of the computer(s) you wish to exempt.
  6. Research: Note if the computer is used for UTRGV research.
  7. Security Exception: Specify if there is an existing exception for the computer.
  8. Reason for Exemption: Indicate the reason(s) for requesting an exemption by checking the appropriate boxes (Software Dependencies, Hardware Limitations, Other).
  9. Detailed Explanation: Provide a detailed explanation for your exemption request to help us understand your specific situation.
