Microsoft Teams – Training Resources and Installation Guide

Important: The IT Service Desk does not provide application-level training for Microsoft Teams or other Microsoft Office products. For training resources, use the materials below.

 

Microsoft Training Resources

Microsoft provides official training resources with step-by-step guides and short tutorials.

Visit Microsoft Teams Training (Microsoft Learn) for tutorials on:

  • Using breakout rooms (assign participants, manage sessions, move between rooms)
  • Scheduling Teams meetings from Outlook
  • Hosting webinars or live events
  • Sharing your screen or content (Windows, Mac, and mobile)
  • Reducing background noise
  • Turning on live captions
  • Pinning or spotlighting participant video

Install Microsoft Teams

UTRGV Computers

Microsoft Teams is typically preinstalled on UTRGV-managed devices.

If Teams is not available:

  1. Open Software Center or Company Portal on Windows, or Self Service on Mac.
  2. Search for Microsoft Teams.
  3. Select Install and follow the prompts.

 

All Devices (UTRGV and Personal)

Microsoft Teams can also be installed using Microsoft 365.

  1. Sign in to the myUTRGV Portal.
  2. Select Microsoft 365 under Applications.
  3. Complete multifactor authentication (MFA) if prompted.
  4. Open the App launcher (grid icon) and select Teams.
  5. In the Teams web app, select Settings and more (three dots).
  6. Select Get the desktop app.
  7. Select Download and run the installer.
  8. Follow the installation prompts.
