Jabber allows users to make and take calls using their computer.
Your extension must be pre-configured for Jabber by the IT Telecom group. Please submit a Service Request to have Jabber setup for your extension.
A VPN connection must be established to use Jabber from off-campus.
Installing Jabber
- UTRGV Computers:
- Obtain Jabber from the Software Center (on-campus network or via Global Protect VPN),
OR

- Download Jabber from the https://my.utrgv.edu portal - Help & Downloads tab. Select the version for your operating system, Windows or MAC.
- Windows Computers
- Right-click on the downloaded package and select Extract All... to unzip it.
- Open the CiscoJabber-Install-.. folder, run the executable, CiscoJabberSetup.msi and follow the prompts to install it using CyberArk. Accept all prompts to complete the installation.
- MAC Computers
- Download the CiscoJabberMac-***.zip file.
- install_jabber package. Accept all prompts to complete the installation.
- Personal Computers:
- Download Jabber from the https://my.utrgv.edu portal - Help & Downloads tab. Select the version for your operating system, Windows or MAC.
- Windows Computers
- Right-click on the downloaded package and select Extract All... to unzip it.
- Open the CiscoJabber-Install-.. folder, right-click on the executable, CiscoJabberSetup.msi and select open/run.
- MAC Computers
- Download the CiscoJabberMac-***.zip file.
- Open the install_jabber package and accept all prompts to complete the installation.

Log In: Use your identifier as the user name. You can recover your identifier at myaccount.utrgv.edu > I forgot my username.
