If you have never logged into the computer before, you will need to log into the UTRGV network before logging into the Windows operating system. This is because your credentials are not cached on the computer from a prior login. This must be done while on campus where the campus network is available or via GlobalProtect. If you are using a loaner laptop, ensure you log in prior to taking the laptop off-campus.
On-Campus
- Connect the computer to the wired network; or at the login screen, click on the tiny WIFI icon in the system tray (bottom right)
- Select the eduroam network and select Connect.
- After you have connected to the campus network, proceed with the regular Windows login by entering your UTRGV credentials.

Off-Campus
To log into a computer for the first time from off campus, the computer must already have GlobalProtect Always On. All Windows laptops should have GlobalProtect Always On by default. GlobalProtect Always On must be requested via a Service Request for Windows desktop computers. The computer name must be included in the request.
- Connect the computer to a wired network; or at the login screen, select the tiny WIFI icon in the system tray (bottom right)
- Select your local WIFI network and select Connect.
- Upon network connection, GlobalProtect Always On should auto-connect to the UTRGV network. Thereafter, proceed with the regular Windows login by entering your UTRGV credentials.
