Access to the campus Wi‑Fi network is limited to students enrolled in the current semester, current employees, and users with an active guest or sponsored account.
Connect to eduroam
Step 1: Select the Network
Open your device’s Wi‑Fi settings and select eduroam from the list of available networks.
Step 2: Sign In
Enter your UTRGV credentials when prompted:
- Username: Your full UTRGV email address
- Password: Your UTRGV password
If prompted with a certificate or trust message, select Trust or Connect to proceed.
If You Have Trouble Connecting
Configuration may vary by device. If you are having trouble connecting, verify that your device is using the following settings:
- Network (SSID): eduroam
- Security: 802.1X Enterprise
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- Identity: Your full UTRGV email address
- Password: Your UTRGV password
- Domain: ad.utrgv.edu
Additional Settings (If Prompted)
Android
- Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
- CA Certificate (Android 8 and above): Select Do Not Validate
Note: If Do Not Validate is not available, use system certificates
- Domain: ad.utrgv.edu
Chromebook
- Security: 802.1X Enterprise
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- User Certificate: Do not select
- Domain: ad.utrgv.edu
- Identity: Your full UTRGV email address
- Password: Your UTRGV password
Important Notes
- If you change your UTRGV password, update your saved Wi‑Fi credentials by forgetting the eduroam network and reconnecting.
- Devices must support WPA2‑Enterprise to connect.
- Smart home devices (such as Alexa) and many gaming consoles are not supported.
