What is Ask COLTT?
Ask COLTT is our support portal where UTRGV students, faculty, and staff can get help with the instructional tools supported by the Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology (COLTT). We support a variety of instructional tools, including:
- Blackboard
- Brightspace
- Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor
- Panopto
- ReadSpeaker
- Zoom (integrated with Blackboard or Brightspace)

How to Submit a General Support Ticket?
Before submitting a case, please explore
our COLTT Knowledgebase for more information and documentation. You can use the search field at the top-right or ask the chatbot at the lower-right for assistance.
To submit a General Support case, please follow these instructions:
- 1. Access the Ask COLTT ticketing system: Go to http://utrgv.edu/coltthelp
- 2. Click on the Create Case button under General Support.
- 3. Fill in all required and optional fields with relevant details about your issue. Attach screenshots if possible to help us understand the problem better.
- 4. Click on the Submit button.
- 5.After submitting your case, please wait for our COLTT Help Desk team to contact you.
What request types are available?
The following forms are available. Select a form for more details:
General Support (Create Case)
Use this form to create a general request or report any incident with Blackboard, Brightspace, Panopto, or any other supported technology.
Unofficial Course Enrollment
This form allows faculty and staff to request enrollments for users not officially listed in ASSIST or to enroll users in organizations. For more information, please refer to our Enrollment policies.
Temporary Account Request
This form aims to request a temporary account for new faculty hires who don’t have access to their UTRGV account yet. Faculty will get access to the LMS via a temporary account until their official UTRGV account is created. Once their official account is created, the temporary account will be disabled.
Course Copy
The purpose of our course copy request form is to aid faculty with this service. Course copy allows our department to copy content from one course to another. If interested in completing your own course copy request, please visit our department's Course Copy Resource.
Course Merge
The purpose of this form is to request that two or more courses be merged within the Learning Management System. Course merge combines multiple sections into one course, making one course the Parent Course and the rest Child Courses. We recommend merging courses at the beginning of the semester before student submissions.
Course mergers will NOT be approved if students have submitted coursework. For more information, visit our department's Course Merge Resources.
New Course Shell Request
The purpose of this form is to request the creation of a course shell in Brightspace, our LMS production server. Faculty can choose between an existing course shell or a blank course shell. An existing course shell is a copy of a previously taught course, including its content, settings, and structure. Alternatively, a blank course shell is a new, empty shell with no preloaded content. Faculty must submit this request form to begin designing their courses for the upcoming semester.
Note: By default, the requestor will be enrolled as an instructor in the new course shell. To add more users, Once the course shell request is completed, please submit an Unofficial Course Enrollment Request.
New Organization Request
This form is used to request the creation of a new organization in Brightspace, our Learning Management System (LMS). An organization serves as a dedicated space for accessing documents, sharing resources, and collaborating with other participants in a secure, access-controlled environment.

Course Restore Request
The purpose of this form is to request a course to be restored from the archives. Faculty may request a course restore from K-16 solutions. Faculty may export/archive the course if they want to preserve a copy of the course. Faculty may also do a course copy, download files, review student grades, etc.

Instructional Design Support
This form will be used to request instructional design assistance in online/hybrid courses.
