Connect to the Campus Wi Fi Network (eduroam)

Only students enrolled in the CURRENT semester, current employees, and users with an active guest or sponsored account can access the campus Wi‑Fi network.

Step 1: Select the Network

  • Open your device’s Wi‑Fi settings.
  • Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

Step 2: Sign In

  • Username: Enter your full UTRGV email address
  • Password: Enter your UTRGV password
  • If prompted, accept any security or certificate notices.

If You Have Trouble Connecting

Verify the following settings on your device:

  • Network SSID: eduroam
  • Security: 802.1x Enterprise
  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Identity: Your full UTRGV email address.
  • Password: Your UTRGV password.

Additional fields:

  • Anonymous Identity
    •  iPhone: Leave blank
    • Android: Enter your UTRGV email address
  • CA Certificate
    • Android 8 and above: Select Do Not Validate
  • Domain: ad.utrgv.edu

Note: If your device has additional fields to fill, you may leave them blank.

 

Chromebook-specific help

  • Network SSID: eduroam
  • Security: 802.1x Enterprise
  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • User Certificate: Do not check
  • Domain: ad.utrgv.edu
  • Identity: Your full UTRGV email address.
  • Password: Your UTRGV password.

 

Important Notes

  • If you change your UTRGV password, update your Wi‑Fi connection or forget the eduroam network and reconnect.
  • Alexa devices and many gaming consoles are not supported because eduroam requires a WPA2‑Enterprise connection.
  • Your device must support WPA2‑Enterprise to connect.
