Ensuring that all software installed on university-owned computers and devices is authorized, licensed, and properly installed is crucial for maintaining the security of information resources and compliance at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
Company Portal (Software Center)
Search and open the Software Center or Company Portal app on your Windows Computer to download and install university-wide authorized licensed software.
UTRGV Software Directory
UTRGV’s Software Directory lists over 1,200 software applications owned by the university. Employees are encouraged to check this inventory before purchasing new software or installing any free software or applications. The Software Directory is located in the top menu within the myUTRGV portal.
Contact the listed owner to inquire about the software license availability and submit a software license request.
Install Authorized Licensed Software
Use Cyberark to install authorized licensed software. Freeware and free applications MUST be approved through a Technology Assessment BEFORE being installed on university-owned computers, devices, or university network environments.
Technology Assessment (formerly Software Assessment)
UTRGV employees MUST submit a Technology Assessment Request for all software purchases BEFORE:
- downloading and installing software (including freeware and free applications)
- buying software or applications
- license or contract renewals
- changes in software use or functionality, as defined in the original assessment
Cloud-based software MUST meet TX-Ramp Certification Requirements.
