Install SPSS for Faculty

The new SPSS code has been uploaded to the instruction sheet (for off-campus use) and license management server (for on-campus use).  SPSS can be installed from the Software Center (on UTRGV computers) and from the https://my.utrgv.edu portal, Help & Downloads tab (for personal computers).


Installation Restrictions 

IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS®):

  • Can ONLY be used for University-related academic work or research

  • CANNOT be used in hospitals or clinics

  • CANNOT be used for University operational or administrative purposes (non-academic or non-educational)
     

To download and install on a University-owned computer on the University's network:

UTRGV Windows Computers - When off campus, connect via VPN.

  1. Click the Windows Search bar.
  2. Type in Software Center.  (If your UTRGV computer does not have the Software Center, follow the instructions for personal computer below.  You may need to use PowerBroker to install the software.)
  3. Select SPSS® Statistics Premium™ from the list of applications.
  4. Click Run.
  5. Click Download to begin the installation.
  6. Click Run.

UTRGV Mac Computers - When off campus, connect via VPN.

  1. Click the Launchpad icon.
  2. Open Self Service.
  3. Select SPSS® from the list of applications.
  4. Click Install to begin the installation.

PLEASE NOTE: If you need additional assistance, while logged in to your University-owned computer, contact the IT Service Desk at (956) 665-2020 or (956) 882-2020 or start a chat session at https://support.utrgv.edu.

Personal computer:

  1. Log in to my.utrgv.edu.
  2. Click Help & Downloads on the top menu.
  3. Click SPSS under Downloads.
  4. Click the subfolder for your computer's operating system (OS).
  5. Download the SPSS Installation Instructions and License Code - v25.pdf and the SPSS_Statistics_25_win32.zip file. 
    • NOTE: Installation code is included in the installation instructions, no need to call the IT Service Desk.
       

SPSS is also available for use on- and off-campus through the Virtual Computer Labs (vLabs).
