Initial setup instructions:
For accounts created after March 31, 2021, your mobile number was registered as an MFA sign-in method during the account activation process. If you are a returning student or have never registered for MFA, refer to this help Article.
Update Your Sign-in Methods and Test Using MFA
Test MFA and verify your Sign-in methods at http://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info. Please ensure you have added a mobile phone number. Having the Authenticator app as your only sign-in method is not recommended.
Using MFA
Once you have registered sign-in method(s) for MFA, review the sign-in instructions.
New Phone Number or New Alternate Email Address
If you have the Authenticator app, see this article on how to update your phone number or alternate email address. If you have changed your phone number and do not have the Authenticator app set up, your Multifactor Authentication (MFA) methods will need to be reset by the IT Service Desk. This process must be handled manually by an IT Service Desk representative, and your identification will need to be verified (see contact info below). Both United States and international phone numbers can be registered as an MFA sign-in method.
Install or Reinstall the Authenticator App (New Phone or Phone Reset)
Instructions to install or re-install the Authenticator app. This allows you to receive Authenticator app notifications that you must "Approve." Or, obtain a one-time passcode by opening the Authenticator app and tapping your account. Note, that the app generates a new code every 30 seconds, even when your device does not have Internet access.
Multifactor Authentication cannot be removed from your account.
