Current UTRGV employees and students can use GlobalProtect to create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to access UTRGV network resources securely.
GlobalProtect operates in two modes. The correct mode depends on whether you are using a UTRGV‑owned device or a personal device.
GlobalProtect Modes
Always On (UTRGV‑Owned Devices):
GlobalProtect Always On is installed by default on UTRGV‑owned computers and automatically connects to the UTRGV network.
- Intended for UTRGV‑owned devices only
- If you plan to take your UTRGV‑owned computer off campus, ensure GlobalProtect is installed and enabled
For more information, select the option below that matches your device:
On‑Demand (Personal Devices):
GlobalProtect On‑Demand requires the user to manually install the application.
- Intended for personal (non‑UTRGV‑owned) computers and mobile devices
- Not for UTRGV‑owned computers
Note: Do not use the On‑Demand instructions for UTRGV‑owned devices.
